Springs for xDrive
I am very close to doing lowering springs on my 2012 535 xDrive.
Are there any negatives to doing this? Does this cause any negative impacts or premature wear to the xDrive system? I came out of a 335i coupe with the stocks sports suspension and like most others, I feel the handling can be much improved.

I have been thinking about this too. The negative that kind of stops me is this car really handles snow well to a depth. If I lower the car, the snow depth gets lower too.

Once it's lowered:
The ride may be a bit more firmed and improved cornering Stock shocks may wear a bit faster than normal (depends on your driving style). There is no coilovers available for the xdrive still. +1 snow clearance issue (minor really) Once you decided on the springs, have them done @ RMP or Bimmersports Last edited by bobblehead; 11-30-2012 at 06:45 AM.. |

I plan to do them at RMP. Was going to call today. Any idea what they charge? Will I need an alignment?

RMP charges pretty reasonable rate. You would prob. looking at $400. But do get other quotes for comparison.
You can call this place and Darren to give you a quote as well. He is a former BMW tech guy from Town & Country BMW. I go to him to do some basic maintenance and he is very easy to talk to and he charges a bit less than RMP. http://www.alphawerxauto.ca/ Alignment will also be needed. Let the springs settled for about 1-2 weeks and go in for 4 wheel alignment done. |
