Experience w/ Route 66 Warranty on replacing seals

Hi guys,

I have a 2011 535i and recently my mechanic told me he noticed some seepage from the rear main seal for the engine as well as some seepage around the rear diff (also likely caused by a bad seal). I have Easy Street warranty from Route 66 and was wondering if others have any experience working with this company to get them to cover replacement of either the rear main seal or the rear diff seal?

My mechanic told me I should definitely get my rear diff seal replaced soon in a month or two before it causes major damage. I wanted to know if anyone had any trouble working with Route 66 on these types of repairs? If so, what is the best way to go about explaining the issue to them so that they DO cover it?

Any insight/advice here will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
J

Depends entirely on what TIER of coverage you purchased. Most of the cheaper ones do not cover seals and gaskets. Check your policy for coverage.

I agree. Seals and gaskets are not included on some of their plans, but the Easy Street should cover it.

Let us know how it goes. I have Easy Street too, but haven't needed a repair on my '13 yet. Here's the section under Exclusions, so it could probably go either way:

N. Seals and gaskets, including head gaskets, except as required in connection with the replacement of a covered repair. (This exclusion does not apply to the Main Street or Easy Street Plan). Fluid seepage is not a covered repair for all plans;

So seals and gaskets are covered on Easy Street, but Fluid Seepage isn't?

Seepage (the slow escape of oil) isn't covered. Oil leaks (oil dripping) is covered. Pictures may be needed to justify oil leak repairs.
