I have a set of mint M5 downpipes that were never mounted on my car (2011 550i) . Would mostly be interested in trading for BMS JB4 Type A or possibly a M5 exhaust or partial trade+ Cash on my end for an aftermarket exhaust.

for those of you looking for a custom Downpipe see this thread

Forum member 747flyboy has had both see post below
from "http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1177153"

"M5 OEM Down Pipes
Check my post; http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169845

Bone Stock OEM 2011 550i Dyno 379 WHP. OEM M5 Down Pipes with NO TUNE 409 WHP a gain of 30WHP combined with a growling deep exhaust note. When combined with OEM M5 Down Pipes and OEM M5 Exhaust NO TUNE 424 WHP an additional gain of 15 WHP however lost the beautiful growling deep tone to an obnoxious loud raspy exhaust ( I hadd to add 4 additional resonators to regain the previous tone). The above hardware combination along with Burger Tuning JB Stage2 piggy back and pure 100 Octane+Torco 497 WHP an additional gain of 73 WHP.
I believe this setup is easily above 500 WHP if I were to eliminate the additional resonators but not a valid trade since I love the way this V8 engine deeply and graciously growls.

M5 downpipes do not add 30WHP. 747 is the only one who claims that and he doesn't have any stock dyno's compared to the DP install dyno. There's no way highly restrictive cats produce more power than catless downpipes. Catless DP's don't add anywhere near 30WHP

I always thought the figure seemed high but he swears by it.I actually remember seeing his dyno posted somewhere (which is why i purchased them)

Also I have heard other members that installed M5 downpipes on their 550i and prefer them over aftermarket. Especially considering that they wont give off the gas smell or set off the CEL

M5 Down Pipes

How much are you asking? I am interested!

P.S. Answering "SLVR"; Indeed I did dyno with stock DP's, results: 379WHP
Catless "POS" DP's fabricated by Technica Motor Sports in Atlanta, results: 402WHP (check dyno archive with Technica).
M5 OEM DP's, results:http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=810669
437WHP (check post).

On the other hand I will never recommend custom fabricated after market components, BMW has spent thousand of hours on research in wind tunnels and advanced aerospace and aerodynamic engineering using best materials available to mind kind. Cannot compare to moms and pops shops that know nothing about laminar or turbulent flows affecting engine cycle requirements.

Based on my seat of the pants dyno; The car used to choke at 5500RPM with the POS catless DP's and used to pull like a freight train up to red line + with
OEM M5 DP's. Nugh said

That is not a comparison dyno. You had a tune installed with that dyno...

OEM 550i and M5 downpipes are very similar in design and both have highly restrictive cats. Don't be fooled by the placebo effect.

It's been debated many times if changing downpipes gives any substantial hp gain at all, to any car, catless or not.

Let me reiterate, Car dyno'd with fabricated catless DP's, results: 402WHP
Same configuration except swapped DP's with OEM m5 DP's, results: 430WHP
I do not want to get into a disagreement, however stated facts.
Cheers...

Facts? There is no picture posted in that thread with a dyno of 402WHP. I'm not in a disagreement, just wondering where you are getting 30WHP. No downpipes will add 30WHP. That's almost a theoretical 50hp gain.

I dont have any experience with replacing the downpipes on our 550is but i can tell you after replacing the stock downpipes on my Supra TT it added 45rwhp and the turbos spooled much faster. It was the single best modification i ever made on that car.

Nice. I'm not saying it's not possible. For the F10, there is no available option for such gains. BMW did pretty well with the current setup. Unless 747 is on to something but I've yet to see substantial proof. I have Active Autowerke catless DP's on mine but it's mainly for the sound. I didn't see much of a difference in my 1/4 mile times until I upped the boost on my JB4 which the DP's allowed me to do

Exactly my point. AA down pipes and other after market shops are good for sound and fumes and OEM well engineered parts complement the platform and generate power. Look, we can talk over this until blue in the face, science is science and laws of physics are endless. I was just sharing a personal experience.
We are all good for it.

In for the before and after dyno pictures without any other mods. If true, this could be very interesting.

You won't get them from flyboy, a bunch of people were waiting for his dyno when he claimed 540+ rwhp just from adding Alpina Turbos to his setup. Never replied to the thread after people kept asking for it.
