Try again - USB input on NAV-less F10 (USA)

I read a recent thread about this, but it got off-topic a bit and never directly answered this question: If you don't get NAV on a F10 (I'm eyeing a 528i), do you still get the USB plug-in option whereby you can simply use a USB flashdrive to play audio?

I've seen three different F10s now (528i, and two 535i), but they all had NAV and had a USB port inside the center armrest and another in the glovebox.

I want those USB ports, but I'm concerned if I don't order NAV I wont' get the USB ports in the car! Not sure all my CAs are up-to-date regarding this detail. Help!

The catalog says that the iPod and USB adapter ( option 6FL ) doesn´t require any other option. So i presume that you don´t need nav to have USB at center armrest.

Thanks. But I left out a detail - No $400 iPod/USB cable purchased with car. Does it still have the USB ports? ( I was told by one CA that the USB ports came on all model/standard. But I'm afraid to order and find he was wrong)

Yeah you don't need navigation. You still get idrive and the smaller screen on the car so you can still interact with flash + ipod with the 6FL option.

Not sure if you get the usb port without that option in the center armrest. You do get one in the glovebox but I think you can only use that to upload/export car settings.

You are right. The globebox usb port is only to import/export car settings and songs to the hdd.

To get the USB in the center console, you have to order the iPod option. Don't order it and no USB port. Navigation has nothing to do with it. For a 528 or a 535, you either order the Premium Package 2 which has Navigation and the iPod option (among others) for $4,900 or you order the stand alone iPod option for $400. The navigation is standard on the 550 and you get the iPod with the Premium Package 2 for $2,800 or as a stand alone option.

There are 2 usb options.

1) in the dash. this is will not work with ipod. this is for loading maps and other system maintenence.

2) in the center console armrest. In canada/asia this is also standard. in NA this is a $400 option. you need this for ipod options to work.

nav is not required for any of the above.
