2014 535I 6MT Question...

I just purchased a CPO. It will be shipped next week. I have owned a ton of new and used BMW's. I already ordered the CDV replacement. I have never driven an F10 with the manual. Those of you who own one...or have owned one...would you go for a short shift kit or leave well enough alone? Thanks in advance.

That really depends what you like and how you feel after you've driven it.

Several of my close friends and family have driven my car, and only one of them said that shifts were a bit longer than his idea of perfection. That same person just happens to come from WRX STi where he had short shifter installed immediately after he's purchased it, and is currently driving 2014 Mustang GT and is about to install one as well. So clearly, it's something he prefers in his cars.

For me, the shifts are fine "as is" but at the same time, I am very reluctant to modify my cars. Who knows, maybe I'm missing out on a good thing.

Agreed, personal preference. Get it and drive it for a couple weeks, then make a decision.

I would say the clutch suits the 535i. There is not a lot of sport in these cars, and the clutch is the same. That said, I have had no real problems shifting it as fast as I want.

I have test drove a 550 manual. I didn't think the throw was that long. Personally, I wouldn't install a short shift kit. This is not the type of car that you want to quick shift anyways. But ultimately, it's your preference.

I just got a 2011 535 manual and I feel that the throw is too long even for regular driving. I also feel it's a little notchy between shifts meaning like a click feeling between shifts.

I'm considering this one https://www.bimmian.com/UUC-Short-Sh...W-F10-5-Series

What is the "CDV replacement"?

Never Mind I used the Google machine.

I had the Zeckhausen CDV swapped in for my F10 and it makes a bit of a difference but don't expect much. On the old E46 it was really significant.
