E60 535i to F10 535i Msport and regrets?

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a newer F10 series 535i Msport. I've had my E60 535i now for about 4 years and still really like my car. My E60 has the Msport bumpers/rocker skirts/trunk finisher as well as JB4 tune, and an after market Intercooler. It's fun to drive and only has 50,000 miles. Also running 20 inch custom wheels which I would keep and install on the newer car, hope they would fit?

But I made the mistake of test driving a 2013 Msport a couple weeks ago and I really liked the car. It wasn't as powerful but I liked the good but still firm ride, I liked the interior especially the center console, the interior cabin was quieter and I liked the 8 speed auto transmission. The trunk is ok but I think the E60 has a bigger, wider trunk space which works better for a couple of golf bags.

I've been looking at the 2013 models but what I noticed was that very few of the 2013 Msport models are equipped with the Multi Contour sport seats.
I have these Comfort seats in my 2008 and love them so I don't want to compromise for the standard seats.

Are there any differences between the 2011 and 2014 Mport models that I should be concerned about?

Are there any changes between the 2011's and lets say the 2014 models.
What I've noticed, and I could be wrong, was that in the 2011 and 2012 Msport models the Multi contour seats were included in the Msport package cause all the used Msports I've seem have the nicer seats but most of the used 2013 models don't have them.

I'm sure there are many owners here that have come from the E60 cars to the F10 models. A lot of the E60 guys don't like the newer F10 models cause the say they are heavy and don't handle as well as the older body style.

I've heard that the F10 cars weigh about 300 lbs more than the E60 but it didn't feel heavier when I test drove the 2013, it handled great.

Let me know if any of you F10 owners have any regrets getting into the F10 and if there are any issues to look for when buying a good used F10 535.
Are some years better than others, etc?

Thanks and Happy New Year

Other than mentioning the facelift from production month 9/13 I don't have much more insight to offer as I never had an e60.
Totally agree of the seats, I have them in my car, but in Europe they are called "comfort seats" and are a must have.

Wasn't as powerful? Isn't it the same engine in both series? Maybe a slight weight penalty, but the 8 speed auto would take care of that. I'd look for a 2013+. Most of the bugs are worked out by then. My 2013 535 X Drive has been near perfect for the last year. Interior is very comfortable and quiet. It is a pleasure to drive in, but as others have mentioned, drive before you leap because it is much less of a "drivers car" than the E60 and without an M Sport with 704, you may not be happy. Only you can decide what is best for you.

More powerful cause my car is tuned and has a couple mods.
It made 380rwhp and 423rwtq on dynojet last spring, this was with 5 gallons E85, then I added the ER Intercooler.

The motor in the 08 is the N54 which is twin turbo and takes well to tunes and mods, the F10 has the N55 engine which is Twin power turbo, similar but not the same.

What is the Msport with 704?

If power is what is lacking just step up to a 550 with the M-Sport package. Just make sure it has the comfort seat package and you're all set.

Maybe I should drive a 550 Msport to see the difference.
I've read that the 535 is a lot light on its feet and gets better gas mileage.

The 535 has enough power in stock form, and I could add a tune to bump it up a little one day.

Ya, the comfort seats are a must and it seems that most of the 550's have them.

If you don't get too crazy the 550 will pull over 25 mpg cruising at 80+ mph. Not too bad for a 400 hp car weighing over 4000 lbs.

I had an E60 (535i) before my F10 (535Xi).
E60 had Comfort seats but F10 doesn't which I miss a lot.
Both cars have the HK audio but for some reason the F10 is lacking in comparison.
I love the performance in both. They are both stock, non Sport or M-Sport.
E60 had non-run-flats and had no problems. F10 has Goodyear LS2s run-flats and I've had two flats and two bubbles. LS2s suck but to me the F10 ride quality is better. But that is purely subjective and is really my ass's opinion.
Good luck with your choices. If you want lots of power the 550 may be a better option for you.
I would do the swap all over again.

Thanks for this Gilgorm.
I might have a serious buyer for my 2008 so I might be getting into a newer F10 535i sooner than later.
Cheers

I just bought a 2012 535 M Sport to replace my 2007 530i w/ Sport Pkg. I wish I had not - at least not now. My E60 just has 63,000 miles and it still looks and drives like brand new. Why did I mess with such a good thing?

Since buying the 535, I have been disappointed in it's cushy ride (in Sport Mode) and disappointed mostly in the vague steering.

I just like my E60 better in size, handling, and in feel.

I would not buy an F10 w/o the comfort seats. I think they became optional on Sport equipped cars in 2013.

Dave

I'm still looking for a newer F10 Msport but it has to have all the right options. Like you said, most 2013 Msports have the basic seats.

I might just decide to hang on to my 2008 Mtech 535 sport. It's a really nice car and it has the options I want with only 50,000 miles.
The N54 is a blast to drive too, JB4 tuned , ER Intercooler with a little E85, it
was dyno'd at 390rwhp and 423rwtq.

If the right car comes along for the right price, I might buy it.

Thanks for getting back to me

The 2014 multi-contour seats are different from the pre-LCI. It contours the body better and it adds the adjustable side bolster. I had to look far and wide to find a 535i with multi-contour seats, but in the end, it was worth the effort.

I noticed that they are different. Have you compared the 2014 Multi contour seats to the 2011-2013 seats?
I'll have to drop into the local dealership and see and feel the difference.
The 2014 seats look more padded and not as supportive. I'm ok with that.

What I found out was that in 2011 and 2012 the multi contour seats were included in the Msport option but not in the 2013 Msport package.
That's why there are so many 2013 Msports that don't have them.
Watered down version. Not sure about the 2014 Msport package.
Most of the 2013 Msports that have the multi contour seat have them in Oyster/black and I'm not a fan of white seats and door handles.

My 2012 and 2015 F10 both have the multi-contour seats, the LCI seat are more comfortable and supportive in spirited driving. Starting in 2013, the multi-contour seats are not included in the MSport package. It is pretty hard to find a F10 with multi-contour seats, its like one out of every 10 535i that has it.

Like I said, there are a ton of 2013 AW Mports on the market and most don't have the nice seats cause it was a stand alone option that year.
I won't buy a car without the multi contour seats.

hp jnky,
I have also been looking for a 535i m sport w. multi contour seats .It is probably easier to find one /w multi contour seats then just add the m sport body kit afterwards .
You will spend about the same .
Curious are you selling your 08 535i ? what are you asking for it ?
thanks

I will be trying to get around 23,000 for my 08.
It's low mileage car with warranty. Warranty until July 2015.
All maintenance has been done including Mag trans seal, turbo oil line leak, active sway bar oil leak, new R1 drilled/slotted rotors, Mtech body package, sports model, Royal purple every 4000 miles, 550 sport wheels c/w really good Michelin tires. Window tint 20% rear 40% sides, comfort seats [ peanut butter color ]. Just turned 50,000 miles.
