Late N20 Timing Chain
I was having my valve cover gasket replaced when they noticed a little bit of play on my timing chain. Roughly half an inch, see attached.
From what I’ve read, this is the case because the engine was cold. It was at the time of the picture, which makes sense because it was not under tension. Curious if anyone has thoughts on this. Theres no TC whine, car runs sound otherwise. I’ve seen a few posts relating in the F30 forum, but im curious on thoughts for thess exact images. The engine is a n20 and the car is a 2016 model, this would be the “revised” engine with apparently stronger timing chain compenents they say. |

IIRC Feb 2015 was the revision of the N20 with the improved timing chain and guides.
