F10 Questions
Im just wondering what maintenance is required when a car reaches around 10k miles?
Is there anything i could do myself or does it need to go to BMW? Reason for my question is ive read threads in the past where some have suggested maintenance around 10k miles but not sure if this applies to me or not? Thanks |

If the CBC tells you everything is fine then it probably is. Some advise that changing oil at around 10000 is a good idea and it is, if you want to be extra careful and it's your own car that you might keep for a while. I'd just DIY.
However, long-life fully-synthetic oils are miles apart from Duckham's Hypergrade of old and if BMW are convinced that nothing needs to be done I'd go with them personally.

BMW operates CBS (Condition Based Service), explained here: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/owner/ser...312___,00.html As 'Xenon' says, modern fully synthetic oils are vastly different to the older mineral types and maintain their lubricating/cleaning properties for significantly longer periods. You can be secure in the knowledge that BMW wouldn't risk their reputation if these extended service intervals held any danger of accelerated engine wear. |
