for now looking at X5 3.5 and 5.0 debating what i want to do, i have a 996 with 900whp on my mind right now.

I had a Jet Black F10 535i, it was my second BMW. I loved that thing. Great power, lots of room, and gets 30mpg+...

The TU engines doesn't make a big enough difference to justify the switch. If I were you, I'd go M.

I've gone through 8 BMWs now, made my first switch to an F80 M3 and now X5M. I will never go back to a non-M car. It just handles, feels, and sound so much better than a non-M. The cost difference is easily justifiable. There is an M for every budget, new and used.

As Rob mentioned, I also have a 640i Imola Red GC. It's an eye catcher, but it's not as practical as a 5 series. It's actually really small inside and it has tons of blind spots (especially the front hood and due to the angled windshield). I'd take a 5 series over a 6 series GC for practicality and drive-ability, M5 would be my preferred choice.
