535i n55 catless downpipe.. owners chime in
Going catless on my 535i n55 pwg in the next few days... I am on jb4 currently, should be a nice combo jb4+catless dp..
My question is, anything i need to know before hand? Any issues or hiccups on this platform with catless dp?s besides cel? I have gone catless on numerous platforms including n54?s but every platform is different and i always like to hear from my fellow owners..

Go see my friend with his Five35 535 DP/EnzoTuned and see how good the jb4/dp combo is to start.
The only thing you have to worry about is that once you update your JB4 Mobile app you will have a constant CEL because new ways of JB4 now operates it no longer clears CEL for US customers.

gotcha, i got the armytrix catless dp for my f10 because it incorporates flex section and it also has the flex section after the mounts closes to the dp/turbo flange just like the oem dp. Yea, i heard about the CEL and the JB4 is a new thing. I know DP dont gain a whole lot of power on our cars in the top end, but its a nice bump in low/mid.. Not that we need more of that but ill take it.

I have Dyno my car which has less restriction, I have other friends who've noticed the difference both in real life(real dyno) and butt dyno, also in the 1/4 mile. OP, the best way to find out if you want a DP if to hear and play with another car that does. We're local and this is what we do, we meet and meet new friends who are enthusiast as well. Most vendors just want to make a dime out there, we help locals make the right decision for free since we all start from 0 at one point.

Word of caution, i was gonna go with ER DP for my F10 since it has a flex secton but the flex section is mounted in between the two mounting tabs which makes no sense and makes the flex section useless. I went with the armytrix downpipe since it has a flex section after the mounting tab just like the oem downpipe. Looks like the N55 platform is happy with a catless downpipes and no ghost issues that pop up.. Thats what my intial post was about.

Get it installed you won’t regret it. The stock exhaust is very restrictive on the car, opening it up will turn your car into a beast. I ended up also removing my secondary cats and upgrading my mufflers. My f10 has a full exhaust upgrade from the turbo back. The car screams and pulls hard now it’s amazing. The catless dp gains felt good but the car sounded stock even catless. That’s what made me remove the stock resonator and have straight pipes welded in place, at the same time I upgrade to a quad muffler setup from Megan racing. The spoo is very noticeable now and the car pulls a lot harder. Only negative thing about my setup is there is drone around 2-3k rpms but the gains are well worth it

I have a bone stock 535 with the MPE. From reading this thread it sounds like I can still get some good gains with a catless DP.
How much louder should I expect the car to be, if I got the catless DP and kept everything else the same ? Really only looking for a mild hp increase and more burbles like the MPPK+MPE combo. I know without a tune I won't get the full effect, but want to get an idea of it it's worth it to just get a catless DP. |
