I just put it together and will test it out tomorrow. Assembly didn't take that long. I'm just worried it won't reach the jack points and I mess something up. May have to get the extension rails. They are about 200 more. I'm going to use the lift to install H&r springs.

Fell a little short of the jack points. The passenger side is solid on the frames. Drivers side is a little sketch.
Thinking about ordering the extend plates but I could get my downpipe instead... decisions!!! |

I have had the quickjack 7000SLX for 3 or 4 years. They did not have the ext versions when I bought it. It is a little short for F10 jack points but they have newer longer versions so get one that will fit you car (but may not fit a smaller car or spouses car in the future). I lay a 2x8 across the top to extend it to the jack points and it works fine. After I put H&R race springs on my 535i this made it too low to fit the QJ7000 and 2x8 board so I had to put spacers under front wheels first to lift it (two pieces of 2x8 stacked and screwed together) before I used the QJ. If you have ramps would probably work to raise car enough for QJ to fit. Raises car enough to do trans pan/fluid, sway bars and probably exhaust work. A little bit of a pain getting it all lined up but then 60 seconds and it is up. I usually have my son do one side while I line up the other and in about 5-10 min have it up it the air (includes hooking up hoses). It has been a good investment. Hoses can be hard to connect as they have fluid/pressure in them. I have found pressing the down button while hooking to the pump (first) helps relieve this then hook to the jacks (have someone hold button).
Another thing is a lot of places selling them now and all probably have same price. Shipping was included when I bought so I got from out of state vendor that didn't charge Commiefornia sales tax but it still shipped direct from QJ warehouse in CA. Just went and measured. F10 jack points are 64" from outside ends of the rectangular blocks. (The QJ SLX is only 60" long but the newer EXT vesions should fit fine at 66"). You may want to get some BMW jack pad adapters to put on top of the rubber blocks. Last edited by Luky; 03-10-2019 at 11:43 AM.. |

Yeah I hear you. I saw that last year and thought about buying the MC adapter for my BMW R1100RT. But my neighbor has the harbor freight MC lift and I just go down and borrow it (has wheels on one end to roll it) when I need to work on my bike. It's cheaper.

They now sell "hanger" mounts you can put on your wall to get them out of the way. I just push them together and slide towards the rear of my garage, then back in over them so they are under the car.

So I built some extension boards yesterday for my QJ. I got a 2x10 x 12' long cut into two 70" lengths ($13 homedepot) then ripped the width to 8.5" with my circular saw. I added a "pad" of 3/16" 70 Shore A hard neoprene sheet I got off amazon. The 36" x 12" rubber was $30. Could probably use 1/16" or 1/8" ok too. I cut it into four 8.5" x 12" pads and used four 1" drywall screws with small washers on each corner of each pad to hold it in place.
Worked pretty well today. The plank on top of the QJ just barely fit under the car with the Msport suspension so if you are lowered you would have to use a floor Jack to raise it first to put boards under the front tires like 2x10 or similar so the QJ and extended board will fit under the jacking points on the sides. I got the QJ and plank in position then lifted the wheels off the ground and set it back down. The change in wheel angles gave enough "lift" room to easily realign the plank to be more centered then I raised it all the way up again to pull a front caliper off (measuring for a brake upgrade). Will try to post some pics. Last edited by Luky; 03-31-2019 at 11:54 PM.. |
