Ceramic Coating Applied (updated pictures...) #picwhore #anyexcusetowhoremycar

What a pain in the ass the entire process was but the end result is totally worth it!!

I've had my car for about 9 months now, and have yet to do a proper detail.

Finally getting to do this.

MY process - total of 12 hours over 3 days.

Tar-X on Wheel Wells and other parts that had a bit of tar.
Sonax on Wheels and Rinse
Wash - Foam Cannon with some Meguiars Auto Soap.
Rinse
Hand Wash - 2 bucket method with the same soap.
Dry
Decon With Iron-X
Rinse with power washer
Clay Bar - with quick detail as a lube
Wash again with Foam Cannon with Dawn Dish Washing Detergent.

Day 1 - Wash/Clay/Decon/Wash Again.

Here is the Iron-X working - hard to tell on a Grey Car - it turns purple as it reacts, I also scrubbed it down with a wash mitt.

Last Step - Foam Cannon with Dawn Detergent

Day 2 - Prep

Polish with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and Polishing Pad, had to use a medium cutting pad with some compound on the trunk which had a few scratches.

After polishing the hood

After polishing the entire car and pulling it out into the sunlight - the space grey really POPS.....my wife saw the car and she said it looked new!

Day 3 - Coating Application

Wipe down with Wolfgang Coating Prep Spray
Apply the coating - easiest part.

According to the manufacturer the coating should last 3 years. maybe even longer depending on how long you maintain, but since it only came out last year we'll have to see how long it lasts.

it needs a full 12 hrs to cure, and no water can touch the car for 7 days.

Applied the coating to all parts of the car including windows/plastic/headlights/taillights.

Will do the wheels at a later date.

All this work but the result is WELL WORTH IT...the paint looks so wet!!

Better pics will come soon.

My little helper posing for the camera

What sealant did you use. I see something that looks like Jeffs Prime but I'm not familiar with this product.

thats a polish (the jeffs prime) but i didn't end up using that

i used the wolfgang total swirl remover its an all in 1 swirl remover/polish with a polishing pad.

I also used optimum hyper compound on a light cutting pad on the trunk lid and a few other areas that had some scratches.

I didn't use a sealer rather i used a ceramic coating.

Here's a link to the kit i used.

http://www DOT autogeek DOT net/wolfgang-paint-coating-kit.html

Ive used the jeff's werkstatt twins on my old e39 and it came out great and the acrylic sealant is pretty durable. However the ceramic coating is supposed to last 3 yrs according to the manufacturer. So lets see how long it actually lasts.

Here's pics of my old e39 after a fresh polish and fresh layer of jeff's werkstatt.

Looks great! I'm really looking forward to a block of time to do the same. I'll have to wait a few years for my helper to be as old as yours though!

Thanks for the compliments guys, i haven't pulled the car out of the garage since I finished this last tuesday, but it seems as though as the coating cures, it seems a bit glossier.

Some updated pics taken with an actual camera.

These pics have been taken after about 100 miles of driving (after putting the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic coating on)

There were a few bugs on the windshield which wiped right off with a microfiber

tried to do my best to capture the gloss...
