The first post is where I removed the side view camera and then later on towards the end of the thread is where I replaced the cable. |

Would this be moisture inside the camera lens module itself (is there even a sensor for that?), or just indicating moisture around the interior of boot handle? (One clip holding the camera in place is loose)

That is seriously ridiculous money. But the retail price of the camera is about $450 and the HSD cables are very pricy. If it is just the trunk camera, I'd take a guess that it isn't that difficult for a DIYer and you can probably source the parts cheaper on the Internet. The problem with these cables is that once moisture affects them it is nigh on impossible to remedy without replacement. That is from experience.

As stated there's likely a short and the ECU throws an error. Had the same with my left top view camera, water ingress, would fix itself when the car dries... I replaced mine myself (bloody expensive cables), but the rear one is probably more complicated - also identifying which cable is at fault is also a PITA. Check that the rubber rear view camera seal is still intact (mine broke on its own and had to be replaced). It's very unlikely you'll have to replace any cameras unless the connection pins have corroded themselves. Frankly it's incredible we have water/corrosion issues with a car that expensive - yours is probably the 10th thread I've come across...

I got my new cable installed to left front camera. Indy tech saved time by routing it along door sill and under carpet after wrappimg it with extra conduit. Took 6 hours but did not end up having to remove seats ,carpet or center console. $588 out the door.
