Light Ash Trim
Hi chaps, I am new here, though I have read a lot of these threads and it has been both enjoyable and really helpful.
I live in the UK and have ordered a new 520d, which will come in November. I have ordered Imperial Blue with Venetian Cream Beige and the Light Ash trim. The interior look appeals to me on the BMW website comparator but the dealer did not have any Light Ash actually on a car and so I am a bit anxious at what it is going to look like in the flesh. Also, I could not see any pics here so I wonder if anyone else has a photo of a car with this trim that they could post. I have the Logic 7 audio, auto, pro sat nav (post-combox), USB and a few other bits. The cost was £31k, about £2.5k off list, which I am happy with - in fact I think it's a steal. There has been a lot of comment here and elsewhere about this been too soft and not as sporty as the old 5, but to be honest that suits me - I see this as a smaller (but easily big enough) and super-value-for-money 7. The Septics (US readers) will no doubt think that a 4 cylinder, 2-litre engine is woefully under-powered, but it is easily fast enough for my needs (this car will cruise the motorways and will never see a track day in it's pampered life). AND it is super economical and very tax efficient - and so bluddy cheap! The most important think for me is to feel loved behind the wheel - in other words the look and feel of the cabin (and the toys). The F10 ticks all the boxes and then some in this regard - and it is so bluddy cheap... did I already say that? Anyone got a pic of Venetian Beige and Light Ash, it would be much appreciated! Cheers, Douglas. |

I could not find many good pics of the Light Ash Trim...
....but I do think it is fantastic, not everyone's taste, but I love it.
So, I thought I'd knock off a few pics and share and enjoy with anyone who cares... DNA. |

I have the light Ash on my all Black Interior...............You will love it! I think it stands out so much better than the regular wood.
Only issue is that everything seems to be on the wrong side on those photos! |

Pictures don't really do it justice....
Pictures don't really do it justice....
....unless the picture is completely in focus it just looks like a kind of caramel colour, but in real life, where you can focus at will, it looks stunning. I was so worried as no one seemed to have it and the dealer didn't have one to look at but I am as pleased as punch, even though everything in the car is on the wrong side! |

DNA 42,
I wasn't paying attention to the dates for this thread, or the fact that you were taking pioctures of your own car. It absolutely looks awesome in that color combination, the light wood trim (as in my car) really compliments the interior of the car. It looks as though we have similar features on on cars. So far I am really happy with this car and really think it is one of the best looking vehicles on the road. I'm still waiting for Top Gear to do a review on their show. Perhaps the next season? (I read that Clarkson likes this model.) |

Top Gear
Yeah I think Top Gear liked it, said the 520d was the best one to go for on British roads.
I agree, the 520d goes like shit-off-a-shovel... I don't get why people buy a 535d... OK smoother, great noise etc., but my car is too fast, I have had to put an alert on at 79 mph otherwise I'll get points, lose my licence and won't be able to drive it.... Anyway, each to their own, but TG did like the car. DNA |

The button...
That button switches the radio traffic reports on and off....
....so if a radio station here in the UK hits their "traffic alert' button then their show will interrupt my CD, iPod, other radio show to give me traffic information. For the most part it is a pain in the derriere, but if you are in a hurry then traffic reports, especially from local radio stations, can be vital in route planning. Now the SatNav does have traffic info as well (you can see the problems on the M25, J28 - J29 on the pics above) but it is not always reliable. I keep it switched off unless I need it. DNA |

Well yes...
Great pics, but not light ash I don't think....
..actually I think with some judicious Googling anyone can find pretty well what they want, but I am so pleased with the Light Ash in my car I do want more people to consider it... ....it's like Ginger, many will hate it, but some will fall in love with something different, something individual, something wonderful in those wild natural hues... or is that the Chardonnay talking......???? Peace and love. Dieu. Exits stage left. |
