2011 Premium HDD Sat Nav Update
Just got the 2011 Premium HDD Sat Nav Update works on all cars after the Sept 2009 CIC build and provides the following new features:
1. Programmable Route Planner 2. Pre-Programmed BMW Routes (Scenic and Leisure Routes) 3. More 3D Data [Buildings, Signs and Dynamic Info] 4. More 3D Exits It does not come cheap: £200 inc VAT. One update/year with the Navteq license agreement included. It is a self-install but each DVD will take 4 hours so 12 hours in all [3 DVDs] The good thing is that it picks up from last point when you re-start the car so should be fully installed in 2 to 3 days for most (or longer for some low-mileage drivers!!!) Will post pictures if I notice anything substantially different. |

UK dealer buy, self-installed
Bought through dealer - DVDs arrived from Germany with Enable code.
It is a self-install like you would do with a regular PC. |

Anyone consider doing any before/after route testing to see if this helps resolve some of the complaints I've read over poor routing by the nav?

My 520D with Professional Sat nav was delivered in June 2011. I quickly found out that some new roads are not included on it. When I asked the dealer about an upgrade he advised that it would cost €350. This is after spending the guts of €60,000 for the car and optional extras in the first place. When I told him I could get a free upto date Sat Nav programme on the net for free. I even pointed out that when you buy a €100 Garmin / Tom Tom you at least get one free upgrade.
I now find out that the "Office " function on the Idrive doesn't work with the IPhone 3GS. I wonder what else I'll find that doesn't work as advertised. "SpokenHands" can you advise the version number of the upgrade you installed to see if it's the same as my cars version. Thanks in Advance. |

Don't they all have post code search? It doesn't have a specific field but you just put the post code in the 'CITY' field it works every time. It also reduces the available letters and numbers based on valid post codes.
