Based on the pictures on the chinese website, seems that there is missing 2 parts from your list..the lock mechanism and some other thing with a wire... Does any know what these parts are ?

I don't think this is quite the answer but perhaps it's a start if you haven't seen it yet:

Bimmer-tech.net can do it. Not cheap, but for those interested, here you go

Or maybe one needs to enlist the help of another forum member who has this already fitted from factory to help fill in the missing answers...

Looks like the "professional" cost of the retrofit is ~$1,700. How badly do you need this? I have it on my car, and I use it sometimes... but I don't think it would be worth $1,700 had I not just gotten in one of the packages when buying the car.

If you use this link you will see all the parts needed. this site is really good in that when you see a part used for an option (in this case S316A automatic trunk lid) you can click on the option icon and it shows all other parts.

http://www.etk.cc/bmw/EN/search/opti...ce/52150/S316A

Then you'll need to check rheingold to find how to wire the components together. The car won't have wiring already so you must create your own wiring harness and this also means buying the right plugs. This is not that easy since the parts diagram doesn't say what kind of plug goes into which component. Normally from the list of electrical components you can see large pictures of each plug and this should help identify the right plug.
Some of the wiring might also involve adding pins to existing connectors (not every pin is used in the existing connectors), but you can buy the individual pins yourself .. if you know what kind of pin to buy

Looks way too involved. Is it that hard to simply close the trunk? I didn't get it either, and honestly, I wished I had for about a half a second and then forgot about it. Just something else to break.

actually I feel the same way. My first F10 had manual trunk and the current one is motorized (it was a used car so I didn't specify this as an extra).
When opening the motorized version is much slower than the manual version (which springs up pretty quick).
When closing it's nice not to have to touch the lid (or try to slam it shut hard enough with the inside handle) and having one button to press to lock the car and close the trunk is nice. But I would not pay for this as an extra.

And i'm still not sure what happens when the boot is really full of luggage. With the manual version you gently shut the lid and find out if it will shut, or re-arrange things and try again. With the motorised one it will no doubt motor down until it encounters some resistance and then stop. But this is not going to be as sensitive as closing it yourself by hand as with the manual version since you take more care if you know the lid might not fit.

I have it and I always love to show it off. You will need to get the car coded and you also might want to add the folding mirrors when locking the car.

In case anyone is still attached to this thread, and has still been yearning for auto close trunk/boot like I've been, FYI looks like BimmerTech are on the cusp of releasing a less prohibitive cost version of auto close trunk lid:
