Rhino Ramps

Planning an oil change, anybody use these rhino ramps. I've got about a 6" clearance up front. Any other suggestions for getting my girl up in the air are welcome.

Well I picked up the 16000 lbs rhinos from autozone. 55 bucks. Made for extra wide tires, measured width at top of ramp is 10.25" so my 255s will fit. About an inch of clearance but I'm not dropped, standard suspension. Took em to the parking lot before purchase and shoved them up to the tires. Just have to come down easy, may put a 2×10 as a cheater.

55 bucks for four? What happens when you come down?

Just 2 ramps. Only have to get the front wheels up to get to the oil drain.

I'll take a couple when I do the oil change. Looks like you are under warranty but that only gets a free oil change every 15k. A lot of guys on here are doing their own at the 7500 mark and letting the dealer do the 15k and so on. My GF has a 2011 3series so I'll save $260 a year doing ours myself. It's only $50 for the oil and filter kit. Dealer wants $180 to change it.Neither one of us drive over 6k a year so annual change is good for us.

I have used these ramps extensively (id say at least 2 dozen times within the last 6 months). I have done exhaust work (downpipe install and reinstallation after dealer visits on my f10, muffler delete install and reinstallation after dealer visits on the f10, oil changes and other general work on a number of bmws ect). They are very reliable. Ive been under the car an average of 3 hours each time, with the car on ramps for days at a time in some cases and never felt my safety was compromised. I always chocked both back wheels, placed two jacks in either side of the car pressed against the frame , engaged the E-brake and used general common sense, however.

Mr Clean, thanks for the review on the ramps. I plan to save the beer drinking for after the car is back on the ground. That should help to avoid any unwanted incidents.

I have a set of race ramps. They cost a bit more, but have a very mild slope. My 3 series was a bit lower than my F10, so I needed something that was "low car friendly". Regardless of which brand you go with, a good set of ramps is a nice addition to any DIY'ers garage.

I'll take some pics when I use them and measure it at the oil drain location.

i ask because when i do my own install on the exhaust i wonder if it would be a pain since it's easier on a lift than trying to do it from my back?

I took my exhaust off with the rear end op on a set of these. I lifted the front from the cross member to get the dp to exhaust bolts. The rear end was high enough up that i could get a 5 gallon bucket under the car to use to prop the exhaust back up (no helping hand that day).

Cheater ramps hooked up, going with the Mobil 1 0W-40 full syn for euro cars. BMW approved. Raking leaves today so change the oil tomorrow morning. For all those north of VA its 65 shorts and t-shirts today.

Ok, oil change done. Super easy and I recommend if you have the time do it yourself. $50 bucks for mobil 1 euro and filter. A few notes from the experience. The cheater boards snapped like twigs, my girl she heavy. Just set the boards sideways in front of the ramps and had plenty of clearance. Used two 20×48 no slip rubber cabinet liners under the ramps. Lots of room to work under the car. Beware of oil run down the pan and dropping on the under liner when the drain flow gets to a small stream. Made a little bit of a mess, just hosed it all down before dropping the car. Used 6.5 liters and about 1/8 from full line on display. Also painted a mark line on the filter housing to line it up. I'm sure that a lot of this is all common sense to most people. Going to do GFs 328i next month, $50 bucks way better than poppin off $180 for each car. Ok, time for beer.

how much room under there do you have to work with...i mean i'm guessing what...about less than an arm length?

Not a ton of room but plenty for doing the oil. For exhaust work might be a little tight. Peter91118 did it but I am sure a lift would be much easier.
