2012 528 - white/blueish smoke at start up
Wife's 528 has started smoking at start up after sitting overnight. goes away after about 10/15 seconds and only occurs after it sits overnight. car has 26K miles on it. kind of early for this crap.
i suspect leaking valve seals? any other ideas or others experienced this with the 2.8? taking it in tuesday. |

Common problem. Mine did the same exact thing. First they replaced the turbo feed line with a new version with a check valve. When that didn't work they ended up replacing the entire turbo. No more smoke now.

I had the same start up issue; first very intermitent and then daily after a few months. The performance of the turbo was an issue for many months but BMW said it was fine. The problem ... no decent boost below like 2500 RPM.
BMW finally replaced my turbo in September. It took over 3 weeks to get the part from Germany. BMW claimed it was due to ramp up production of 2016 models. I find that hard to believe because all new cars have an electronic waste gate and mine is mechanical. They even replaced the catalytic converter as well as they were afraid the oil leaking/burning may have damaged it. What I will never know is if the turbo failure was related to the imfamous oil filter plastic housing recall. Mine cracked/failed 2 months before it was scheduled to be replaced. Its nice they went to aluminum. Too bad they cant retrofit a real dip stick on my 2012 since I never got a clear report from BMW about how much oil I had lost. One thing for sure was I was down at least 2 quarts. Ive owned turbo cars since the late 80's. This was my first failure. Barry |

I know on non-aspirated cars it's your seals in your block going bad...or you're running rich? But from the people mentioning above could be your Turbo? Do u feel a lack of power?
