My 2015 335i M Sport vs 2014 X3 28i XDrive M Sport

We picked up our second BMW yesterday. A 2014 X3 XDrive 28i with the M Sport package. This is an amazing little crossover. It drives fantastic, it's reasonably quiet and it handles really well, better than most sports sedans.

When it comes to driving feel in "Comfort" mode its better than my 335i M Sport. The suspension is firmer, the steering is firm and has more feedback. I'm really blown away at how good this little SUV is.

Granted going into Sport or Sport+ changes the 335i quite a bit, but the steering may still have more feedback on the X3 (not sure yet). I'm hopeful that on the next 3 series G20, that BMW stiffens things up again. The X3 is more in keeping with what BMW is about than the current 3 series. It's not that the 3 series isn't good, I LOVE my car. When things get twisty its great, its just the suspension is a touch too soft on initial turn in. Once the car takes a set its fine but initial turn in would be better if things were a tad stiffer.

Anyway, thought I would share the news on the X3 purchase and my comparisons between the two so far

I imagine your x28i is about as quick as my x3 30d here in the UK. The more I drive it,the better it gets

It's certainly quick enough, not a barn burner or anything but no shortage of power, especially around town. The only time you notice the power difference between the BMW and the GMC Terrain that we traded for it is on the highway. The GMC definitely seemed to have more passing power but it was marginal and the increase in around town torque with the BMW is huge.

They've made a lot of changes to the F30 over the years, some not advertised it seems. My car drives significantly better than my buddies 2012 M Sport. I've heard the 2016's are better and also heard they are identical in terms of steering feel and handling for M Sport so who knows until I get to sample it myself.

Great looking cars! I felt robbed paying extra for the adaptive M suspension on my f30

Nice!! We were looking at the X3 for a replacement car for my wife. We got it as a loaner while her car was in the shop. It was really preppy and drove quite well. I was quite surprised! We also looked at the X5, but it was too large for what we needed. We ended up getting a m235 6sp!

Nice ride OP!

My wife just got a 2016 X4 28i and she loves it too...Its perfect around town for her. The torque in that little 4 pot is nice in sport mode too.

Tires make all the difference in the world as well. We have Blizzak WS80's on it now and its a tank in the winter. Kept the all season 19's for all other seasons.

We'll put some better all seasons on it this fall but not going crazy on the X3.

If its Goodyear LS2, you're better off selling it they're pure crapola lol.
