Ta; started to look at how to remove mine but got nervous when I saw that the 2nd vane in from the outside seems to support that stack of flaps in front of the Radiator !
Did you have to remove the blanking plastic insert in front of the rad so you had a clear view down onto the back of the Grilles ?

Even pulling quite hard, I cant shift 'em ! from the front ....

I just put some thick gloves on, put my hand in a pulled like hell. I was gradually increasing the pressure because I got very nervous about damaging something. They do come out, but you have to REALLY pull hard. I mean really hard. Like, a lot.

*please note that the poster does not accept any responsibility for any damage, howsoever caused if taking his advice. By continuing with strong pulling on your grills you accept total responsibility for any outcome, good or bad, as well as any cuts, bruises, bleeding, swearing or any resulting divorce proceedings resulting in, or because of, ripping your whole front bumper off and looking like a right tool.

Hmmmm - I'm sure that on my 530d LCI they are supporting the 'array' of flaps in front of the Rad and somehow retained at that point - so when you inserted the new Grilles, did you have to align the 2nd 'supporting' vane in any way ?

Disclaimer noted LOL

Have you guys told your insurance company you've changed the grilles?

I have, as well as the other stuff and it went up by about £20. I'm not sure if just the grilles is worth notifying but would they class it as a mod in the event of a 'your fault' accident and refuse to pay out?

Oh shit - yes, they will streamline the profile and add at least 0.25 mph as a Performance enhancement .....

For Goodness sake ! As if they need excuses to ramp one's premium ....

Cost me £40 + Vat along with my Insurance excess when they replaced the whole front this week ..... they tried to get a 10 vane version, but the only alternatives to 12 vanes seemed to be the M5 6 vane !

Pleased overall - next job is to sort the alloy roof rails !

Looks awesome. Why did you replace the whole front? Have I missed something?

What prompted even thinking about spending money was the fact that I managed to peel off the M-Sport spoiler from wheel arch to edge of kidney grilles by catching it on a bloody prone tree trunk (used to mark the edge of the trackway to a car park on the edge of the common) and neatly bending it out at a right angle like a broken wing .... its split the plastic around the grille and slightly damaged the chrome surround.

Soooo ... its gonna have to be an Insurance job & will doubtless be more than my excess - might as well pay the difference for a pair of glossy black ones ...

Also Decided on Carbon Black & White wheel centre caps too (looked hard at a set of Red & Black, but a bit OTT, plus EBay sourced from Hong Kong and way too cheap ....)

To self: Doh!

Sorry man, lost track of the thread. Let me know how the roof rails go and get some pics up when they're done. Cheers, Michael
