SMS up on iDrive with iPhone 4

Hi,

I'm not getting the SMS to show up on the iDrive?
Checked all settings both in the iDrive and the phone.

Someone who know how to fix it? Or am I just out in the blue? Isn't it a feature available?

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3
Car is brand new so I assume it's the latest software

Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Same problem here

It's my understanding it's a compatability issue.

Me think that you will need the iPhone Media snap-in cradle for this...

Ok, because I've tried with just the USB connected and it still won't work, but the snap in adapter uses something else perhaps?

It doesn't work for me with the media snap-in. If you run the BMW Apps on your iPhone you can now get access to your calendars but no SMS. This works with the snap-in or via the USB port.

As I've understood it...BMW offers three different snap-in adapters for the iPhone. The greatest ones of these should be able to handle office functionality...

But I am still on Android...waiting for iphone 5 so I have not tried it...

Wifes Windows Phone 7 enables SMS access via Bluetooth by the way...

You're right. My understanding is that the media snap-in is the top of the range, however still no office functionality. Perhaps it is slowly coming as they recently updated their BMW App to allow us to see calendars. Maybe SMS is next?

Ok, I will be at my dealers VIP-night where they will show the new 1-series tomorrow, and a premium apple-reseller will attend, and speak about this subject then, so will ask them and keep you updated!

Well, talked to my dealer, and it should work. He told me to visit him so we could figure it out together someday. BTW, the new F20 1-series is gorgeous irl, thought it was awful when I saw images of it, but I loved it irl, totally. It's awesome!

Your dealer is an idiot probably

iPhone4 not supports MAP Bluetooth profile, which means no any 'office' functionality availble over bluetooth (except calendar support in case you'll launch BMW connected application)

For sure, iPhone not supports office functionality over 'cable' connection as well.

Apple iOS SDK not allows to get an access to SMS / emails for security reasons, and nothing changed in this area in iOS 5, that's why only Calendar is available in the BMW connected application.
