BMW M5 intake installation

So I finally have some time to start working on my M5 factory intake retrofit this weekend.

I realize there are a few aftermarket choices, but I'm trying to keep the engine bay factory looking while possibly getting some performance out of the air intake system. I believe the factory M5 intake system should yield some increased air flow due to the less restrictive pipe design.

There is a thread below of a guy doing a custom setup with chevy MAF adapter, which brings me to my question..
Can I use the M5 MAF sensors, since the mounting points for my N63TU MAF's are different then the intake hoses from the M5? I have a stage 1 BM3 tune, was just worried about installing the MAF from a slightly different engine management system.

Anyone have any thoughts on combability?

I don't believe the M5 has MAF sensors. So there is no compatibility.

The S63/TU removed the MAF sensors and used a different method to derive airflow. BMW realized that MAF sensors reduce airflow by about 28% (from memory). So they derived MAF by other means.

Which means a tune for you to run MAFless or retrofit in the N63TU MAF sensors with some tubing or something else.

It has maf in the air intake housing pipe, just like my n63TU, the plug is the same and all but I don’t know if software wise in DME it’s not utilized.. if it isn’t then I should be ok then.

Thanks

You're thinking about the F90 S63. The F10's S63 still used MAF sensors.
