2011 535i xdrive. Keeps dropping into neutral while driving.

So I was away for a week. Car was parked. Come back go on a quick run and when I get off the highway I get a clutch overheat message and the car drops to neutral. Check engine light brake and traction all lit up. Now in limp mode. Turn off go into store. Come out drive home in limp mode. Went for another drive today. Check engine light went off by itself. No other indicators on. But while driving. It randomly drops into neutral. Once coming to a stop. Once while accelerating on the highway. And random other times.

Check your fluid type and level. Use something like ISTA to scan for full codes. I would not be messing around when you're getting overheat messages.

Just an update. Check engine went off on its own. Haven't read the codes with ista yet. But it's back to normal. Could've been from just sitting for a week

Was this a recurring issue? Was there a fix? Had a handful of times now where my 2011 535i engine shut off after pulling away from a stop light and went into neutral. No codes, no lights.
