We've done it in my friends shop, I needed to raise the mufflers a bit
closer to the diffuser, because I didn't like the big gap.
Looks good now!

Looking super clean!.
The reason I didn't go M5 is kind of a long drawn out reason but her is the gist of it.
I was driving a Ford Raptor and I have a lot of miles on it. Bought it new and put 77 k on it in 2.5 years so I wanted to beat the de appreciation at 80k and turn of the year. I was gonna go M5 except with the new body style coming out and the standard de appreciation of that car I would have payed 120k and been looking at a 80k car within the next 12 months which I didn't wanna do. With the 550i being the next step down and not even that big of a step I figured I could save money and get that beat the massive de appreciation get the car mod it up still save money from an M5 have my fun pull the parts and sell them when Im done and still be on top. Rather build an M5 for 90 car then buy one and lose all the money on it.

No, need a little cutting and welding.
M5 stock is 3" pipe and 550 is 2.5" but is an easy fix.

i was told 550 is 2.75 and the 535 is 2.5 cause that's what i'm going to do with a 550 to 535 setup

Maybe so, I just know it's not a direct bolt-on, as the M5 exhaust (complete) is a bit longer too. So there will be cutting/welding in either event.

I've had an M5 exhaust sitting in my shed for several months now as I've dawdled getting to this project, but I just found a local shop (BimmerOnly) here in Westchester that would take this on. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have my new exhaust setup installed. I can't wait!

You won't regret it, it's a great addition while still technically being OEM so they can't complain when it comes warranty time!
My exhaust was purchased from a local guy off a brand new M5, so now that it's had 6-7 months of use, it's really opened up and is perfect for me.

From what i can see the newer model m5s sound the same as the 2012 one or am i wrong? And also is that a good price for the mufflers and diffuser? The mufflers r in very good condition from the pictures hes sent me

Adding a M5/6 OEM muffler is a great investment. I got some M6 black tip competition mufflers recently and the car sounds so cool and nice. Im very happy with the purchase. The sound is clean and throaty at the same time. Enjoy!
