M5 Competition Package Exhaust Upgrade on a '14 550i M Sport
Hello All,
As the title states, I'm wondering if the M5 Competition Package Exhaust Upgrade would work for my 2014 550i M Sport? I know you guys will say to look in the classified section which I've done but people want $1,500 for their used mufflers, and then on top of that they would rather not ship. Going this route would mean I'm getting a brand new item, and shipping would be inexpensive. If the competition package exhaust mufflers don't work, does anyone know where I can get a new set of M5 mufflers? |

I have to imagine that buying any OEM exhaust parts brand new like that would cost a pretty penny? I know on the 550i that the whole system is one piece but not sure if M5 is the same.
Why not look at aftermarket option??

The M5 exhaust system has a list of deviations compared to the 550: it has different piping shape, bigger diameter, different hanger hooks, narrower tips positioning. See the diagrams for reference:
- 550iX exhaust system: http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...81&hg=18&fg=10 - M5 exhaust system: http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...42&hg=18&fg=10 - M5 carbon and titanium tips: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...26&hg=18&fg=95 The picture shows the 550 and M5 next to each other, for better viewing: Therefore the easiest way to have the M5 or M5 Performance mufflers installed on the 550 is the replacement of the rear exhausts (axle backs). This will need cutting and welding to compensate differences of piping geometry, diameter and hangers placement. The tips should finally fit your diffuser, either 550 or M5 with different cutouts. Such a conversion project is absolutely normal thing, however is highly recommended to be done in a professional exhaust shop. |

I just bought my Competition Pkg Exhaust, it can be fitted with minor adjustment by your local mufflers shop.
