Very FEW of the 70's and 80's were turbo's (euro only i believe for alot of them) but thru the late 80's and 90's they were all motor.

IMHO the 80's/90's was the pinnacle of bmw engineering, ending with the e39/e38/e36/e46/e30/e34/e28 and ofcourse the mac daddy e31....the 8 series..

after the e46 bmw became a company ran by the accountants vs the engineers.

my e39 540i was a 4.4 liter v8 282 hp / 290 tq, with a 5 speed auto, it was fast for the day, by today's standards it was quick enough, however my fave part of that car was the balanced chassis, and the steering feel.

as technology has evolved these cars have become more disconnected from the road (inevitable i guess).

at some point in the near future i will be looking for an e39 m5......

Thank you! I hoping it stays like that too. Its going to take about a week or so to get the springs all settled in so we'll see the final result.

Almost reminds me of my C300 which also had H&R springs on it.

it's going to settle a bit more. i'd say maybe at least .25" front/rear?

With 50-50(ish) weight distribution, it is reasonable to think the settling should be equal front/back.

I am interested to hear your honest (ie critical) opinion of the ride quality. Obviously body roll will be subdued and cornering will be more confident...but what about familiar potholes and bumps in the road? Do they feel different to you?

True but the front and rear springs are different sizes which can cause the difference in setting.

The ride quality for three has been much better than stocks. The corning is smoother. Since I do have a front lip (and this isn't my first lowered car) I do bumps sometimes at an angle in order not to mes up the front lip. With any lowered car, you have to actively driving which includes missing potholes.

12 hours after spring install

New brake pads all around with EBC yellow stuff, and a well deserved oil change.

Hey I have a question, I have two F10 bmw's. One of them has a heated steering wheel while the other does not but they both have the same steering wheels (looks wise). Could I swap the steering wheel from the non heated one to the heated one and will it heat up when I turn the switch on?

Not that easy. For one, the switch for the heated steering wheel is on the column. I found this guide on forums here, worth a read.

Mine just turned 17K and got a service last week.

It kept loosing coolant which ended up being a cracked coolant reservoir.

I have not done much to it lately as it is pretty much where I wanted it to be.

14 more months on the lease and then it will be G30 time :-)

I had around 77k. I checked the stock shocks and structs and they looked pretty good.
