Dealer Design Scheme Overhaul!?

Today a service advisor told me that BMWNA is mandating a new design scheme for its dealers that will include earth tones (brown and green colors and wood) as well as open floorplans with no cubicles.

I'm usually up to date on these matters, but hadn't heard of same and question a shift to earth tones from BMW's iconic white, grey, glass and metal look, earth tones being more fitting for Land Rover Jaguar!

MBUSA recently overhauled its dealers with its Autohaus design concept, which looks great, but earth tones for BMW!?

Anyone hear of this? Any photos / renderings? Someone tell me I'm wrong, please.

Yep, they're in the process of a year-long re-design at the dealer in my area (Taylor BMW). Giant mess. The lot is just a dirt patch now, so when you take your car in for service, it looks like the tech's took it muddin' on their lunch break. Trying to avoid the dealer at all costs until they finish.

Interesting; thanks for this.

Any way you can ask around as to prospective color scheme and finishes?

Maybe renderings posted somewhere?

Find it so hard to believe they're going for earth tones; just not BMW. :|

Earhard BMW of Bloomfield Hills, MI is relocating to a new building which is currently under construction. Much bigger building and lot. I recall seeing renderings of what it will look like and believe the colors were more "earth tones"

The dealer in Sarasota is in the middle of a massive renovation and expansion, and the white/gray theme persists. I don't mind the reserved color palette, but the execution is so dated, especially compared to the beautiful new Audi showroom across the street.

probably not, as long as the current building was approved by BMW. Chain companies refresh (brand standards) every 6-10 years.

I wouldn't worry too much. Brown leathers on seating, off white/cream walls and looks like Brazilian walnut (Or similar) wood accents but all done with a modern touch.
Looks good. basically, it looks inline to what is the popular beige leather interiors with brushed metal accents and wood dash.
Perhaps they want it to not look like a Honda dealer.

I was there just a couple of weeks ago; no new scheme in line with the earth tones I'm referencing.

May be similar, however; thanks!

You're right, Nalod! Just found this:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2014/10/13/bm...an-renovation/

I've visited BMW of Manhattan several times over the years spanning before and after the renovation. Noticed the renovation, but wouldn't say it rises to what I was told recently. It's a very minor facelift and looks good. That said, likely what's coming to all dealers.

Mercedes' Autohaus concept is far more extensive and iconic.
