Maximum HD Supported by USB in Console

Does anybody know the maximum size HardDrive i can use with the usb in the center console? Looking to throw a bunch of movies in the car and the 16gb SD card isn't quite cutting it lol.

I am using a 250gb portable HDD. I just have music on it but works fine.

For those with a large drive, how long did it take for the car to index all the files? Does it store the index when you remove and reinstall the drive?

Can you actually watch movies from the USB attached drive?
If so, what format?

Yes. MPG, AVI, MKV, DIVX,....afaik. Can also enable XVID and XVCD via coding.

Hooked up a 1tb drive with 12k+ (700gb) of Flac files. Took a bit to index but worked no problem.

A ssd may not work. Most draw more than the 500ma the USB port supplies. Let us know if it does work.

This is true, I finally got it in the mail and it wouldn't read. I just returned it and ended up getting a 128 gb flash drive. It works great no issues and indexed within a few seconds.
