While I really enjoyed the flat cornering, the roads in Chicago are truly horrible and way too much impact was being transferred to the interior with the Eibach bars.

Instead, I bit the bullet and installed KW V3 coilovers which are designed to work with the stock bars.

These bars would have been fine had I lived in somewhere like South Carolina which doesn't get dozens of freeze thaw cycles every year like Chicago. All that freezing and thawing just destroys asphalt.

How are the KW V3s on Chicago's pot holes? is it a really firm ride? Any noise in the suspension over bumps?

While I am still adjusting the coilovers, as the initial install settings are very stiff, the KW V3 is flat out excellent on rough roads. Being able to tune both the initial response to the bump and the overall level of compression is very comprehensive.

So far, I have backed off each setting about 4 increments from the initial install, each one step at a time, most recently this morning. Its very nice now and might get softened yet another notch. Or maybe not.

There is zero additional noise from the suspension. My IM says he wishes he had known about this before upgrading one of his BMW's with Bilsteins.

IMHO, this upgrade is very worth the money.

Good luck.

I am also looking at the KW v3 for my 535d x drive. Glad to here you are liking them. I looked at Ohlins but they don’t make any for the drive.

There was someone on a forum complaining that there are no KW V3 options for diesel. I don't know if this is correct or not.

Good luck.

There is still an option... the kw v3 for the 535i xdrive also work with the 535d x drive. ECS tunning sells them.

How are yours doing? Do they take a few weeks to get settled?

Check Tire Rack, who were the cheapest I could find for the V3s. No apparent settling so far.

Good luck.
