Extended Warranty Advice - 3 more years $1200 a year

I have the option of extending the bumper to bumper warranty from the factory. This is not a CPO limited liability warranty. This is covering everything except wear and tear. 7 years 70k miles $3695 (I drive less than 10k miles a year). Covers everything, even all electronics and is only offered only to new car buyers. This breaks down to extending your factory warranty for 3 more years at 1200 a year. Worth it yes or no?

IMHO, it's a very good deal to get an extra warranty at USD1200/year.

It's obvious but if you're keeping it for more than 4 years then it's worth it. Even if you don't it will be a peace of mind purchase to the the owner. I think it's worth the money because one major repair will pay for the cost of the warranty. Especially since it's BMW direct and not a third party warranty outfit. Those I say no!

The air shocks(I'm assuming you're getting the adjustable ride option) alone cost about $1000 wholesale and they tend to leak in about 4~5 years. I'm also assuming that it's similar to the MB set up. If one of them go bad, it will cost you at least $3000 at the dealer.

Yes I have the Dynamic Handling package with the adjustable shocks. I thought shocks are wear and tear items, like tires. Is this covered under warranty if I blow one of those out during the 4 years 50k factory warranty?

Actually, on MB (I had a 2006 CLS500 when I lived in L.A. a month ago) it would have been covered under warranty if it happened before the 50k miles. Shocks are fine... It's the air bladder that develop leaks and it just happens that they are one unit so they have to replace it completely. I say that BMW does the same. I also assume that they are as expensive as the MB's. The repair is fairly easy but the dealers pad the price quite a bit. You heard of that?

My brother in law owns an autoshop in south L.A. so he just charged me the wholesale cost of the unit and free labor. He basically saved me about $2k. I wasn't very happy that it went out 5 days before selling the car to come to Chile.
