Odd that the 550i is 500 pounds lighter than the 750i yet 0-60 time is only .1 faster. Would have expected more than that.

I'm pretty sure its understated. I expect the 535i to be closer to 5.5-5.6sec and 550i to be 4.7-4.8sec.

The options and standard features for US models will be different.

It is most likely N55; doesn't make sense to use an older tech. when a newer one is in use with another car already in production. I also read on autoblog that they are using N55, but I'm sure they did their write up from the press release, which doesn't specify. Unless it says it uses TwinScroll...

shame on bmw, they are making a slower 535i? the e60 went from 0-60 in about 5.6 seconds and the new one will accelerate in 6.0? thats preposterous? what were they thinking?am i the only one that hates this figures?and thinking i was about to start saving for my f10 535i

Are'nt you mixing Kp/h figures with mph?

0-100kph in 6,0sec should mean 0-60mph in 5,8sec?

Will a dual clutch transmission become available (DCT or M-DCT) for the 550i?

Will and AWD option become available for the 550i?

Thank you.

BMW always goes conservative on the standing start acceleration times in their spec sheets. I guarantee you the new 535 will be as fast or faster than the E60 535. Its just physics... the new car is a bit lighter, has more gears, and the same peak power output.

Don't worry... put it this way: BMW has never made a new car lesser than the old one in terms of performance. Why would they start with the model that will be the bread and butter of the 5-series line up in their biggest market? Answer is they won't and the car will outperform the previous generation. In any case, there are many things more important than standing start times!

still slower (differences between 0-100 km per hour and 0-60 miles per hour are pretty minimal) still it should be faster than the previous model having the same tag(for what ive read the new model is a little heavier)

As Pavel pointed out 60mph isn't the same as 100 km/h. 60mph is 96.54 km/h, so we are talking about 3.5 km/h. 3.5 km/h can be significant enough to cause differences on the order of a couple tenths of a second.

You also have to keep in mind that there are technical differences between Euro spec and US models (in the picture attachment you are using figures from US BMW website).
US spec 6MT E60 550i according to BMW USA website weights 3946 lbs which is 1789.9 kgs; the German spec 6MT E60 550i per German catalog weights 1735 kg. Same is true for E92 335i, the US spec model weighs some 20kgs more than the German E92 335i.

What causes these differences?- different equipment, weighing methodology, etc.
Oh, are you aware of the fact that according to official BMW figures a German spec 6MT E60 550i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the US spec model get from 0 to 96.5 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Interesting, huh?

Anyway, I wouldn’t get all worked up over a few tenths of a second, because it doesn’t really matter. Trust me, the new F10 will not be slow.

I'm willing to bet that the 550i's 0-60 time is very very very conservative.
