Hi,

I just recently purchased a 2010 F10 530d with 125 000km on the clock from an auction. I had no intention to buy the car, had my eye on a F30 320d but the bidding price I landed saved me over $4000 difference. The car is ridiculously amazing to drive. Mine came with some great options like seats with
1. lumbar support,
2. Adaptive lights,
3. Sunroof, a
4. Automatic blinds,
5. Navigation
6. Run-flat tires
7. Paddle-shifts
8.Automated tow hitch
9. Reverse camera

What the car does not have is Auto Start/Stop (which I am not to fussy about).

Fuel consumption

I decided to drive from Johannesburg to Harare, Zimbabwe for the Easter holidays. The ride is pretty decent, with very little wind noise though I am driving on 19 inch run flats. The average fuel consumption, running on Diesel 10ppm, was 6,7L/100 which really impressed me. Urban driving I average 8,5L/100km which is still pretty good.

Power

Look, I have my sights on the F10 M5 hopefully year end, but the amount of torque this car pulls makes you wonder if its worth the M5. The 535d is what I want to test out but there are rare to find on sale in South Africa. 180kw of power is more than decent, but you do get used to the power and want more. I am not up for tuning the engine, I always fear the durability and long life just for the extra power.

Comfort

My local dealer gave me a test drive in the new G30 520d. To me it felt more of a technical evolution and the ride comfort was not what I expected. Granted the G30 had the M-sport package and I hear that it effects the ride quality of the car but I am still more than happy to have the F10 for another year or so until the price drops in the G30. The seats on my car are very comfortable. My friend who owns an F10 M5 took a drive and she also mentioned that her seats were not as comfortable as mine.

Things I hate about it....

1. Drivetrain malfunction: I get this error when I accelerate very hard but it lasts for the whole of 20 seconds without any interruption of power. I am trying to figure out the problem by reading through the forum but will take the car in when its due for service.

2. Air conditioning: every time you start the car the fan comes on automatically.

3. My drivers door has stopped locking and unlocking just yesterday. Weird

But so far so good, I really enjoy the car and long distance drives are not as painful. I hope to participate in the forums more as a new member. BMW's are amazing cars and are suited for people who love to drive. I used to have an E53 X5 3,0i and it was a great driving machine. I hope I can upload the pictures of the car for you guys.

welcome. that is amazing fuel economy for such a heavy car!

I get roughly 8L/100KM on the highway and roughly 11/100km in the city 528i naturally aspirated inline 6 gasoline. and I thought my economy was good!

sounds like you landed on a good deal. enjoy your bimmer!
