Hartge N55 Engine Tune - F11

Pulled the trigger and ordered the Hartge N55 engine tune from Germany last week.

Hartge is claiming it will take the engine from 306hp to 362hp and torque up to 480Nm.

Will post later a video of 0-100 before and after once I get it in. No plan to dyno it.

Hope if wakes up my car

Can't wait to hear your review. Is this a hand held flash loader or did you have to send your ECU to Hartge to have them flash it?

It's a seperate unit - guess its called a piggyback type? There are about 6 or 7 cables to plug in to various parts in the engine bay.

interesting - so compared to JB3's 4 sensor intercepts, this has 6-7. I wonder if the others connect to the CAN bus?

Factory 0-100 time

Got 5.9 to 6.0 seconds for 0-100km/h last night factory in Sport +.

There were 2 adults in the car - little on the heavy side and 2 bags of we hockey gear - was coming home from a hockey game which we won .

The rest of the data you can see in the video:

Plan on installing the unit over the next few days.

Installed

I went to Studie last night and had it installed. See the pics below - parked next to a nice M5 as well!

I have only driven a little so far but can say the following:

- not a lot of change up to 3,000 rpm
- over 3,000 and it pulls way harder than before
- can hear the turbo a lot more
- definately is spunkier

Will drive it some more before taking the after video and will post along with more comments - so far a happy camper

I read somewhere that the Hartge tune is designed to not do anything below 3K rpm which kinda sucks for me because 80% of my driving is in that range.

Any updates regarding the Hartge tune to report?

Hey guys - been busy the past few weeks and haven't had time to take the after video.

I am still liking the update but I wished that I had read it didn't kick in until after 70% power is applied. That explains why not much happens before 3000 rpm.

When it does kick in it is noticeable and the car pulls a lot harder. I am still happy I got the upgrade.

I see that it is 1599 in the States - cheap compared to what I paid. Mine does come with Turbo and Engine insurance from Hartge - does that come with the American 1599 package as well?

Will get the after video up hopefully this weekend!

According to Turner Motorsports they said Hartge told them that 70% throttle thing only applies to diesel model cars. Not sure how accurate that statement is. I'd like to hear it from Hartge themselves to be sure.

The 1599 price tag does not include any warranty whatsoever.

Love to see your after video so we can compare just how much of a difference the tune made. For the F30 328 the tune knocked off 4-5 seconds from 0-120mph which is huge.

So are you noticing the power tip-in at + 70% throttle or above 3000 RPM?

I saw your other video on youtube after the tune and i honestly can't tell any difference from 0-100km using my stop watch method (not the most accurate but will do for now)

I really want a tune for the F10 after coming from a tuned 335 which dynoed at 355whp and 400wtq!

I talked to Jorg about this whole 3,000 rpm or 70% thing - Hartge has told me the power kicks in from the start and is on a curve just like their graph.

About the video please wait - I have yet to take the proper second one!

Nice vid Canuck. My 535 dct I did "chip box" conversion (about 750 us) with 2 plug ins only and it is about 5.2 0-100 km/h in sport not plus. Lots of wheel spin though when using manual and the paddles. Also really pulls from 2200 rpm but runs dead on 120 deg c which is 20 deg hotter than normal.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thVyZFtsvls&feature=youtu.be
My car after chip on YouTube - please compare?

Also check out the reset transmission advice as below : works, did it today...

1) Push start button once, with foot OFF of brake. Turns power on, but does not start car.
2) Push accelerator down for 30 seconds (hold it to the floor).
3) After 30 seconds, turn car completely off and wait a couple of minutes (2 minutes seems to be fine)
4) Start car as you normally would do.......throttle response should be immediate.

Installed Hartge chip on my F11 535dx (2012) today in their shop in Beckingen, DE. First impression is very good, acceleration improvement is noticeable. 80-200 km/h before install was 21 sec and post install just below 17 sec. Probably too lazy to shoot any videos but do recommend their service. According to Hartge self install not advised. Whole process took 5 hours, only complaint I have is lack of wifi in their waiting lounge.
