Exclamation Tire help 550xi

Hey everyone

Wondering what would be the best tire setup on these wheels for my 2011 550ixdrive

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=948734

19x8.5 and 19x9.5

Can I do all around 245/40/19 like oem?

Or a staggered setup like
235/40 and 285/35? What are some options?

For the daily driver 550xi the typical setup is the staggered 245/35/20 and 285/30/20. The xDrive distributes power between the front and rear axles in a 40:60 ratio, therefore the staggered setup provides proper traction and also has traditionally better aesthetics.

The rolling diameter for the 245/35/20 front and the 285/30/20 rear is identical so it is a perfect setup for xDrive or rwd cars. For square tire shoulders profile the rims should be at front 8.5" wide and the rears 10" (with Michelin PSS). Making the rims wider, you will get more stretched look if you like, here the most popular setup is front 9" and rear 10.5".

If you want larger tires, the next perfect fit is 255/35/20 and 295/30/20.

F10 has large fenders, so the most of owners believe the 19" are too small and better for a race track (because of light weight) while the 21" are a bit heavy and expensive, also the tires are.

Sorry if I am talking about my 20" while you have already decided the 19" of whatever reason. Here the recommended approach is the same: staggered wheels with equal rolling diameter of tires, so the 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 are the best fit. Rim width is 8.5" and 9.5" for square profile.

For sure, you can take the 245/40/19 all around, in that case the rims should be also of the same width like 8.5" for square shoulder or 9" for some stretch. But I wouldn't recommend it because of xDrive ratio and 550xi power needs better traction, and not forget about aesthetics.

Hope this helps.

Thank you!
I ended up getting 245/40 and 285/35 PSS
