I've certainly noticed that makes car feels more sprightly on 17" winters than my 18" summers. MPG is also quite a bit better. With that in mind 20" I would imagine would be a fair bit worse.

Size does matters
Tyre size makes a small difference in the mpg according to BMW.

It's looks like about 5% per extra inch due to mechanical effects. I do wonder about the psychological effects, though. Does driving about on your brand-new, bad-ass wheels subtly alter your driving style also?

2011 F11 520d I get 30mpg around town and high 40s on motorway runs.
One note my Idrive always gives a far more generous value than the real figures. Figures above are actually what I get not the mpg figures from Idrive. |
