Drive Performance Control

I have a 520d M Sport with manual transmission on order, which should be delivered in early October. I was playing with the BMW configurator yesterday, as it has recently been updated to take take account of new pricing which applied to my order.

When viewing the interior images, I noticed there was the Normal/Sport switch next to the manual gearlever. I did think this only came with the Sport Auto box, but it is listed in the spec summary as Drive Performance Control - 4U2, and now seems to be standard on all F10 variants.

Does anybody know anything about this function and whether it is any different to the function that always came with the Sport Auto box? My understanding is that it allows alteration to the steering and throttle response, but the link below also refers to being able to fine tune the ride, which I don't really believe TBH.

I wonder if it will aid poor traction in slippy conditions eg snow as well as offer stability generally

Yep, even more confused now! Dynamic Drive, Dynamic Drive Control, Dynamic Performance Control, Drive Performance Control...

The link you posted refers to Dynamic Performance Control, not Drive Performance Control, and it appears to be related to the stability program and not steering or throttle alterations.

After spending ages looking around and trying to decipher things, I've concluded Drive Performance Control is simply a re-named Dynamic Drive Control, which enables steering and throttle alterations, along with reduced traction control in Sport+ mode, however there is also the so called ECO-PRO mode which I'm not sure is included on all 5s or just the Efficient Dynamics model. It appears to be standard on all new 1 series.

I could of course be completely and utterly wrong about some or all of this...

There is a lot of information in the attached PDF that details the September changes particularly around ECO Pro and its inclusion on the 5 series from September.

Thanks for that, I hope my car gets these changes. Do you know when they take effect exactly?

I had an update from the dealer today who informed me the car was in production. Can I assume that because I was charged the new increased price (£600 extra), then that will be the updated spec?

Might be a dangerous presumption, it depends when it actually went into production - on or after the first it will get it.

As far as I know the price rises took effect in September, with September builds - so that would be in line with the updated spec, right? When I was weighing up the car's options in August and enquired about whether the price rise would affect my order, I was told this was dependent on build date. So I'm concluding, new prices = new spec. I hope.
