I have opposite problem, most people don't close the doors on my M5 (E39) hard enough. Compared to my wifes old Civic which a small breeze could close the door all the way. That is one of the reasons I want soft close.

My soft close doors have created a problem for me: when I drive any of my other cars without soft close, I usually end up not closing them hard enough and have to close them twice. I am beginning to ignore soft close and just close the doors as you would a normal car. But, not slamming.

I have the soft close doors so its even more annoying when people slam the doors. Of course when I tell them, they have to open and close the door 5 more times because they think its cool.

Now if I can only break peoples habit of closing the door using the B pillar which scratches if a mosquito lands on it.

Lol this post brought back some funny old memories! Back in the day I would scream at my buddies every time they slam my door close "WTF B*tch! LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE WALKING HOME!" and so they learned to not slam the door anymore but this one time I had this hawt chick I was dating she slammed the door so hard the speaker grill come flying off and the window rattled and all I said was "it's okay babe!" My buddies looked at me and said "WTF...REALLY?" Lol

I just show them how the doors close before they get in, then I remind them before we get out with a comment like "If you slam my door your walking home bitch!" My girlfriends sister is not allowed in my car for the rest of her life for being a door slamming whore! Anywho that's how I do it

This s#it drives me crazy with my wife and kids wife more because kids will be kids.
Wife is driving Jeep wrangler now and if you know Jeep Wranglers you know you have to slam door every time you get in or out.
On top of all that my car is equipped with soft door close not sure if that's proper way to call it.

In my car I have the opposite problem. These F10 doors are solid and heavy, so most people cannot close them fully the first time around. Even compared to my e46, these are heavy and solid.

The OPs post is the reason I wouldn't ever get soft close doors. Its just waiting for some fool to break.

I simply tell people getting in that I have soft close doors so just ease them closed. When they are getting out I remind them: remember - soft close doors.

Works pretty well - I love the soft close option.

And another thing don't you hate it when they don't pick up there feet high enough when they get in the car and they hit and scuff your damn side skirts! funny part is my boys sit on the same seats so I know who's doing it!

You realize you are making the soft close designers cringe, right?

The system was designed to support people that close doors--even slam them.
