So a lower model 5 series can look like a higher model or even a m5.

A friend of mine when we were in high school got permission from his parents to buy a 5 series but only a 525i so that it would be a slower vehicle and thus "safer" for him. Unable to resist, he bought a 540i and RE-Badged it a 525i so that he would not get in trouble from his parents...... they never found out.

IMHO I like the clean look...funny thing is that since my car has been modded and has a quad exhaust with the M5 rear diffuser I get people looking at it ... but to anyone that really know an M5 will notice my dinky chrome side turn signals instead of the mighty M5 side grills

2013 BMW M5  [10.00]
cuz i don't want to brag.

It's very common in Germany to not have a badge on your car. People know what you're driving.

In the states though people seem very confused when you don't have a model badge on the trunk.

I've always ordered my cars without badges, no matter the engine i like the clean look.
But now when i have a jet black F10 with M sport pkg on order i let the front fender M badges stay on. I'll probably debadge the fenders but wanted to see how it looks first

Being that my car is black on black I realize how eye sore my chrome badges are! Thought about plastidip them or even getting the carbon fiber badges? Until I saw a debadged BMW in person and I must say...it Looks clean!

There are some cars that look much better debadged, but I don't think a BMW is one of them. When I see one I always think poser. Say a kid right out of college who buys as much car as they can (base model e60 or 2011 528), then debadged it to try to blend in with the executives driving brand new 550s or 7-series.

Forget about the BMW...

Has anyone ever seen a "badged" Rolls or Bentley?

Those cheap bastards driving a RR Ghost probably debadged to have others think it was a Phantom...

Many, many years ago (1998) I de-badged my M3 Evo Coupe and replaced it with a 318is badge...

Was this done to avoid having the car stolen?

Top 4 reasons I debadge:

1. Looks clean

2. Sleeper look

3. Hate chrome

4. Easier to detail

No - that would have been a good result! It was done to stop people/idiots constantly wanting a race. At the time the 318is was a very popular car, so I just blended in a bit.

I had a 520d SE and did not de-badge it. Now I have a 530d M Sport and I have not de-badged that either. A great number of 520d's are debadged in the UK and it does make me wonder why since it is such a super car.

On my 530d F11 LCI my car has chrome inserts in the door handles and the handles light up. Does the 520 have these?

The 520d is a brilliant car!!! I loved mine. But it's not has brilliant as the 530d! "The Beast" as we call it...

I like it shaved

De-badged 550i - 6 Speed Manual

Why?

- Easy to Clean
- Balanced look in the rear/ Symmetry
- Absolutely no care what anyone else thinks... Unless they want to buy it
