Question Jump starting another car with the F10

Has anyone jump started another vehicle with their F10? I assume that you would use the positive connection under the hood and the "negative ground nut" under the hood as well. The procedure is explained in the owners manual if the BMW needs starting, but not the other way around. I guess you could always open the trunk cover to expose the battery itself and do it that way. Thanks!

You are correct, I hope. I have started a few cars in the way you describe without problems.

No need to open the trunk, the terminals under the hood are just extensions from the battery and the effect is just the same as a direct connection. Just connect to the other vehicle as per the manual and, with your engine running, use your car to start the other one.

Do not do it if you can avoid it and if you do, do not start your vehicle. If your vehicle is running and then the one you jump starts you are overloading the electrical system possibly

ToddR.... but that is why you start your car, to avoid overloading it.... generally the battery on it's own does not have enough oomph to start the other car.....
This isn't unique to F10's or BMW's

Well I tried it this morning and jump starting my 911 from the BMW worked just fine. I used the + terminal under the hood near the engine and the nearest "grounded nut" and all went well. Now I am going to go get a battery maintener ASAP!
