ConnectedDrive Real-Time Traffic Info Gone?
Just tried to renew my annual RTTI subscription online (connecteddrive.bmwusa.com) but it's no longer an option for my car. I don't use the car's nav often (just on super long drives), but I like having RTTI always updating me of hazards on the highway (I66 & I495).
The only thing I did recently was update to the 2021 map with a lifetime code I got on eBay. I doubt that has anything to do with it. Anyone else seeing this for their F10?

This is due to anticipated phase out of 3G wireless connections. BMW doesn't want to deal with complaints and issues due to declining 3G coverage or get stuck paying for COMBOX upgrades like they did for the 2G phase out, so they're just killing the service. My car isn't even out of CPO yet. Kind of frustrating that they sunset this so early.

Unbelievable. And some of these cars are only 4-5 years old! Couldn't they plan ahead with a tech upgrade to 4G?
I'm guessing there is nothing we can do about it? |

God damn it. That's horrible to feel your car is already outdated when you're still under warranty or making payments on it (on my last year). Oh well.

It's possible that an upgraded Combox will be available at some point (they did make a 2G -> 3G upgrade for CIC cars), but I wouldn't hold my breath ..

Even then it's unlikely to make a difference since RTTI subscription is tied to my VIN and the option would still be disabled for me to subscribe to. Oh I thought a lot about the ID5/6 upgrade to get native CarPlay support and speedier interface, but I can't justify $2k purchase when I've got a $3k upper oil pan leak job waiting for me to take care of.

Do the Connected App remote services work, like lock/unlock/etc.?

I see. Yeah, my F10 also has an FRM module. I wonder if the NBT Evo comes from an LCI F12/F13/F06 6 series which had NBT Evo and should also have FRM instead of FEM or BDC_Body, it will work with the F10.

So to understand this correctly, our cars have a TCB and that would need to be replaced with an ATM from a donor car to get online functionality, correct?

I'm a bit confused. What do I need to do to get back RTTI & ConnectedDrive? Is it possible? Parts needed? If I install NBT EVO ID 5 will that work?
So many questions... I just want my services that I use REGULARLY! |

Please do share a link for NBT EVO. The ones I was able to find are $700 or more without the touch screen while MMI units are about $265 (after the $65off coupon) at https://www.amazon.com/Carlinkit-Wir.../dp/B085CCTPCD

Yes, Bimmertech wants $2200 for the EVO, but I've come across european seller that would sell EVO unit for about $700 and then if you want touch screen that is additional $200-$300. I didn't pursue it because I wanted to keep my car as stock as possible and be able to reverse the changes

Why am I just finding out about this when I was paying $50 a year for the past 4 years?
I meet all the prerequisites. Gonna pull the trigger and give it a go. I'll update soon. Quote:
