Mudflaps for MSport - RESOLVED!!

Has anyone put the BMW mudflaps on an MSport? The SKU for the regular BMW mudflaps is 82-16-2-155-857/8 and I was wondering if they worked with aerodynamic changes applied to the MSport?

Thanks,
Bill

Edit: See post further down this thread for pictures - the regular BMW mudflaps (sku: 82-16-2-155-857/8) fit the MSport aerodynamics - BMW has just not updated their parts system to reflect that fact.

I went to dealer in Scotland and they said no. I wanted rear ones to colour code as for some reason there is always a dirty line at rear of car and its annoying.

Hopefully someone will do them soon.

What I find strange is that I have two images from the build your own - one of the msport and one without - when I overlap them the contour of the wheel wells (both front and back) match identically. It is only further back from the wheel well does the rocker panels or back bumber start to change. So why does BMW system block the availability of the current mudflaps from being ordered against a vin that is an MSport?

Oh, well...

If I were to use the old E60 as reference, I had them on my 535 Msport, they are similiar in look but the drill holes have different location.

I also had them painted to match the color of the car, not an easy job because the paint shop had difficulty in putting the primer onto the rubber flaps and the flaps had to be sanded down to created a bit of a rough surface for the primer & paint to attached (so I was told by the shop). After about two years of use, the paint started to peel off bit by bit, I guess the salt really ate away the paint ??

I'm looking at keeping them black anyway so the paint is not a problem (dark graphite). If it is just the drill holes that is no biggy.

Thanks,
Bill

If those flaps become available, better not paint them. Waste of time & Save $.

I would need to paint as its alpine white. Got quoted £40 for rear only to paint with rubberised paint then a coat to match plus fitting. Only keep the car max 3 years so if i get 2 more winters then great if not another 40 quid aint going to kill me. Will spend more on cleaning and tar remover come the summer.

I put the Mudflaps on my car and they loook great on White. The black gives the illusion that the car is stitting lower.

Is your car an msport?

Thanks. I got confirmation from a guy on another forum that he installed the mud flaps on his MSport and they fit perfectly (just as I suspected).

Mudflaps on a M-Sport? Sounds like having spoiler on a tractor.

Ya, but they are not large and I do need the protection. So, I need to heed the advice of my mother "Billy, if you are going out to play make sure you wear rubbers..."

Good news on mud flaps then, ill pop into garage at weekend and get a set.

It must be the width of the back tyres that through the crap up all the time.

Thanks to the board again for advice.

Scottish John:

I'm booked for next Wednesday so if you get yours, let us know how they look. Psychologically speaking, I'd feel better if they called them mud guards rather than mud flaps as "flaps" imply large floppy things whereas guards imply stiff and muscular - much more appropriate for msport.

Saw those originally but the dealer here is saying they are not applicable to the Msport and they are waiting for those to become available.
