Fuel pump adapter for diesel cars - is there a better solution?

My dealer sent me one after my car was sent for its first refueling and I got a call about how the pump nozzle just won't fit the hole. The one they sent me appears to be an aluminum tube around 8" in length, with one end wider than the other which tapers around the middle of the tube. I was later informed that during the refueling through the adapter the diesel was spilling all over the place, and the worst thing is that the auto-sensor in the nozzle that cuts the fuel supply when the tank is full just didn't sense the fuel level and the surplus diesel just spilled over the side of the car. I could still smell it once I approached the car to leave for home.

Is there a better solution? Hasn't someone come up with an after-market solution that works to solve this dilemma? How come the nozzle doesn't fit in the first place, is it an EU thing?

Probably a EU standard. No problem here at least. How much do you pay for Diesel/gasoline overthere?

Here in Sweden we pay approx 2,10 USD/litre...roughly twice the US price!

However 55% of the Swedish diesel price is tax, environmental and VAT...
