550i Stock Exhaust Tips Wear

I can't be the only one with paint pealing on the inside of their stock 550i muffler tips. It's annoying more than anything. I'm waiting to get my hands on a good set of M5 or Dinan mufflers, but I wanted to see if I can resolve this issue while I wait.

Has anyone had any luck with the dealer addressing this? I doubt BMW will replace the entire muffler for this (I wouldn't want them to either - first world problem right here), but do they at least professionally repaint them under warranty?

As much as I like having black tips to complete the entire look of the car (especially being white), this is why I generally prefer polished chrome tips. Easier to maintain (with a P21S polishing soap) and look sick when clean.

2014? As long as they are the original tips, warranty is warranty. They should or will make right however it takes --- unless they think you did something abnormal.

All original (to date). I noticed it when I cleaned the tips the day after I bought the car. The damaged paint was masked by the carbon build up, hence why I didn't notice it when I inspected the car.

I'll drop by the dealer after work this week and see what they say.

Curious to see a pic if you have one.

My M-Sport 535i has the black painted tips as well and when I was cleaning the carbon buildup off the tips, I noticed that paint was flaking/peeling off. I dropped by my dealer and they ordered a new set of tips under warranty. Should have them next week.

Here is the pic. It's much more noticeable after it's been cleaned (this is with 5 days of carbon build up).

Sadly I think the trapezoid tips are welded on, so not sure what they'll do in my case. I'll be dropping it off next week for another issue and ask them about the tips as well.

Hmmm, in truth I've never cleaned the inside of mine! I'll look tomorrow and see if they are doing the same.
