Hi all - had my F10 M (silver / black leather) for 4 weeks now - exceeding all expectations in every department & over 50 MPG overall !
Anyway, theres what looks like an ashtray behind the I drive ?? the inside is removable, but theres some kind of socket built into it & i cant figure out what its for ?

The manual doesnt confirm what this "ashtray" ? is.

Can someone please let me know.

The electronic socket inside the ashtray must be for an electrtonic cigarette then !!

with the auto there are two hinged compartments on that piece of trim, the larger is in front of i-drive and is obviously the cup holders, the smaller is behind i-drive (from drivers view point) and has another trim covered soft close lid and that is an ashtray for those that still smoke or just a small lid'ed storage bin if you went for the smoker delete option. inside that small compartment is a small connection for a bulb that lights it up when open at night.

if you search on the forum you'll see that if you have the ashtray insert it is possible to order the, well just plain insert, that you would get with the smoker delete option....think its about £15 or something

it's semi-automatic. you have to manually push it in once, and it opens automatically.
