Shamy, how did u keep it new?

Washed my car yesterday and my shamy fell apart! I only used it 3 times. any pointers on maintaining these? Don't want time keep spending $15 bucks a pop every 3 washes.

That's nutts, I've had a Synthetic Drying Chamois "The Absorber" for 20 years. I remember because I bought it for my new 1995 Firebird Formula Convertible. It still looks almost new, just fold it once and roll and put it back into is handy dandy storage tube. Don't let it dry out it or will probably fall apart.

Sucks up water like crazy.

I would recommend some high quality microfiber drying towels. I prefer the cobra waffle weaves. They're more forgiving and safe to trap particles in the nap and you can wash and dry them at home. I still have an absorber that I never use anymore.

What do u do with it after each use? Pit it in a bag? My shan't I would just leave in my car wash kit tub but it would dry up pretty hard until I soak it in a bucket of water.

Gentlemen please get rid of these thing they are harmful tools to wash ur car!!!! use either a blower or microfiber towels (more than 1) (1.to remove most water, and 2. to remove the smear or streaking.) make sure they are short nap and long nap. short to remove majority of water and long nap to absorb minor streaking water. As well start at ur roof then do hood, trunk and then work ur fenders, quarters, door, and NEVER dry u wheels with the same u do you the paint.. Hope my 2 cents will help a lot of u guys prevent swirl, halograms, and micro-marring. if you have any detailing question feel free to reach out to me!

http://www.carpro-us.com/microfiber-madness/

any towel from here is a golden ticket to success.
here is a vette i did today but this received a one stage polish with ceramic coating, and a sealant. but you can get results like these without polishing using these towels to not harm the paint and to ensure u remove all residue. check out Carpro Reload to use as a sealant. youll never refer back to a paste wax they are garbage!!! LMK if you have another questions.

I always left it in the container it came in. Keeps it moist.

i love that thing, ive also used it for about 10 years now, it did dry up once when i had an extended period of not washing my own car, i rewet it and slowly worked it back to life and its good as new

Well first I would take the nozzle off the hose and sheet most of the water off the car. Then use a leaf blower to push all the water off the car. Then I come in with any microfiber and either detail spray or spray wax and dry the car!

Also you can buy a pack of 12 nice microfiber from Amazon made by Chemical Guys. Also look at the Rag Company. They're great!

Source: Detail Hobbyist. Detailing cars is relaxing for me lol.
