European Delivery - How does it work?

I would prefer a non-sales guy answer to this question and thus the reason for this post.

How does ED (not the Viagra one) affect pricing?
Where do you place your order (and who do you pay)?
How long do you get the car in Europe?
How long does it take to ship and which ports are valid options?
Who collects the car at the port and what additional fees are involved?

Thank you very much in advance for any information. Being close to the port of Miami has helped in shipping race cars over the years. I am hoping the same will be true of ED BMWs

I'll chime in...

1) ED is an instant 7% off of regular MSRP. But you must pick your car up at the BMW Welt (near the factory) in Munich.

2) You can cut a deal with any BMW dealership. (some are better at this than others)

3) You can keep the car in Europe I think for up to six months? I'm not sure the exact amount of time technically...most people just go on vacation. Road insurance is covered by BMW for up to 2 weeks...any more than that costs extra.

4) It take about 4 - 5 weeks from drop-off to return to the USA, depending on where you live. Check BMWUSA.com for valid drop points...they are limited...e.g. )from certain countries such as Italy, you would have to drop the car with the shipping company and pay extra to have them drive it back to Munich.

5) No additional fees...the dealer gets the car back at the port along with the rest of his regular cars.. then delivers it to you. If anything, this whole experience could cost less than regular delivery, but its best for those that already happen to be going on vacation.

You can negotiate the price down to 11% off of US MSRP if you are smart. Plus you can get the BMW Buy Rate which equates to low monthly payments. Go to Bimmerfest European Delivery Forum for more info.
