Can anyone confirm or dispell the rumor that BMW will hold all 535i's for delivery until 6-19-10.

where did the rumour come from?

mine is due the 25th of May, and contacting BMW, there are no indications thet there are any delays...

"From what I am told here in Germany, doesnt matter how fast they load, cross the atlantic and drop off, wont be a F10 in your driveway until 06-19-10.

Yes, this is true. Those who have their cars delivered to port earlier than that will have their cars held until then.

I can tell you I spoke to BMW today (here in Germany) and they confirmed 06-19-10 is US release date. I was told I can look though the glass at my beast at no extra charge

What happens to a car that sits outisde at a port of entry for over two months without being driven, in the elements....that is my concern?

I will be driving one on a BMW sponsored event on May 1st, so there are a few on the road already that belong to BMW.

Not that it makes any difference since we can't do anything about it but does BMW have a specific reason (EPA, dealer issues, etc) for setting what appears to be an arbitrary official release date?

Years ago a product called Cosmoline was used to protect the cars in transit.

It was a think gummy clear wax that was sprayed all over the cars. I took a special detergent to remove it fully. My father was a pinstriper, and many times I was at dealers setting up a car and had to use some nasty solvents to get it off the body lines. Sometimes the prep guys would wash the freshly painted stripes off the cars during the cosmoline removal process.

Im sure they have a similar substance they are using now.

Might have been a test drive he saw, My local dealer has a 535 and a 550 but just for test drives
I test drove the 535 they have on May 24th awesome ride cant wait for mine to get here.
