I thought that this B5 Biturbo sedan is based on the F10 550i with already the 8 speed autobox....I don't get what you are trying to say honestly.
Or does Alpina replace that gearbox for their own 'Switchtronic'?

Cheers

Alpina B5 that's what I'm talking about! Way better looking than the M-package on the exterior... now I just hope it somehow gets the M-package interior
The B7 still have Alpina's spec 6 speeds.
rumor said during the B7 Development,
the 8 speeds was NOT strong enough for Alpina application.

Apparently they had improve the 8 speeds now,
so it can be used in the B5 (same engine/power as B7).
Hopefully they will use this 8 speeds for later B7 production too.

On second thoughts,

maybe because the B5 weight less than the B7,
the B5 8 speeds transmission working load is NOT as heavy/hard as if it is use in the B7,
that is why the 8 speeds can be used in the B5 but not in the B7... (for now)...

Here some info about all the different ZF 8 speed boxes which are also being used in i.e the 760 and RR Ghost, which are capable of taking more torque...

What's up with the front end of the new generation of BMWs? Looks like it's smiling... Ugly to me. I will not buy it.

Have to see this in black. Replace Alpina front splitter with the M-sport front bumper and done!

HOLY SHIT
This is so hot looking. The front looks so good without the silver slats and the rear is out of this world. I am not sure if I like the front or rear better. I am amazed how good this new F10 look modded. The older 5 didnt really looks so great with aero/body kits but this gen is looking unreal. I am amazed by alpina. Wow just WOW.

I really hope the M5 looks better than this. Not a fan. The rear is decent, but the front is awful.

Hmm...I assume that Alpina weren't prepared with their 8 speed auto tech/ R&D so they covered it by saying that the new 8 speed wasn't strong enough to handle all that torque and the old 6 speed auto was ok.

Now that they are all done with the r&D, I think the B7 might get the 8 speed now.
