Help!! 535i Xdrive ,Message: brake system drive moderately replace brake pad
I have a 2011 535i Xdrive. I went to service last month. The BMW service told me I need to change brake pad after 3000 miles.
I got the message brake system drive moderately replace brake pad" today after I drove about 500 miles. Do I need to change the brake pad or any possible something wrong in the sensor? Do I need to change the brake pad in the service center of BMW? May I change it at Jiffy Lube? Thanks. |

You can change them anywhere of course, many owners are changing brakes by themselves.
I've been sticking with the dealer and OEM parts personally. Keep in mind these are heavy cars though, you want to use quality parts wherever you go. |

If out of warranty, which I presume you are unless you have a third party or extended one from BMW got to them otherwise find a reputable independent repair shop that works on BMW's and have them check/replace.
Please don't go to Jiffy Lube.

Because he does not want to die. Dealer is the safest bet, I would by the OEM brake pads from like ECS tuning or Turner motorsports then take those to the dealer and have them do it, by buying the OEM parts saves you money and the sometimes dealers gives you crap if you don't have the OEM parts.

It's fine, just means that you've triggered the brake sensor in the pad. The idrive is just an estimate, this warning comes up when the pads physically trigger the sensor at a set wear level. I've easily done 500 miles after this has been triggered and could have driven further but didn't want to chance it wearing through and ruining my disks...
