Will the dealer update the Nav map software at no cost while the car is under factory warranty or CPO?

Follow Almaretto's link. I've DIY'd it the last few updates. About a year after getting my car I had paid the going $50 rate for an FSC code (but why when there's the DIY FSC generator).

Dealers won't update under warranty or CPO, they'd rather try to sell you their $500 update. Only leverage you might have would be to ask them to update the maps before you buy a CPO.

Your cost is high, but otherwise I agree. You can negotiate almost anything before you sign and drive off lot.

As you can see, dealer website is offering March '16 rather than August '16 (2017-1) Maps.

Do you have E-Sys program and the ENET cable? If so i can remotely login to your car to retrieve the FSC code that is needed for the upgrade and send you the 2017-1 map to install yourself...... for free of course. Just did this for a friend tonight and worked flawlessly. I can do both CIC and NBT map updates along with any coding.

Cables can also be found in ebay for about $30 or so.

There are a few guys that can generate the 2017-1 map code for a fee and provide a download link; I bought mine from bimmerfsc@gmail.com

FSC code for Navigation option is static.
Additionally, you can either have lifetime or release-specific FSC map code (eg, 2017-1).
